BMZ is the winner in Competence 2014 contest
Summarizing the results of annual contest ‘Competence 2014’, Chief metrologist department (Byelorussian Steel Works) became the best in the country in the field of calibration of measuring instruments. The representatives of the company were given winner diploma on June 9, 2015 on International Accreditation Day.
There was a long way of formation and hard work before this success is achieved. In October 2001 chief metrologist department was accredited as verification laboratory in the system of accreditation of the Republic of Belarus. This ensured unbiased and competent evaluation of conformance of measuring instruments with the standards. Three years later, the calibration laboratory of BMZ metrology service was created and accredited on the basis of the verification laboratory. Creation of such laboratory was not easy. The specialists would develop and introduce different methods of calibration, carry out methodological work with those in charge of measuring instruments in the shops. At the same time, the personnel of the department received their training.
The hard work became fruitful. Accreditation enabled the lab to operate within STB ISO/ IEC 17025 standard, well-known worldwide, and enhanced the status of the department. The certificate does not only prove the competence of the laboratory, but makes it possible to resolve many organizational issues in more simple way. Calibration improves accuracy of measuring, makes measuring more reliable which means it contributes into better quality of the product.
Within all this period of work different specialists, including many auditors, noted time and again high professionalism of the people who work in the calibration laboratory. That is why that victory of metrologists of the plant in the contest ‘Competence 2014’ was fair enough.
- This is for the first time we made ourselves known at such a high level. This is the achievement of the entire team and I am sincerely grateful for their conscientious work. And now we will have to work harder, because we are to correspond to the achieved award, - said chief metrologist of BMZ Ekaterina Borisenko.
